Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10400 Fuqua Street about 9:30 a.m. today (May 18).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and L. Ho reported:
The male, a contract construction worker, was placing safety cones around his trailer to block an eastbound lane at the above address. The driver of a Honda Odyssey van changed lanes to avoid the closure and struck the male. According to witnesses, the male was possibly frightened by the vehicle and jumped into the roadway. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver was not injured, determined not to be impaired and was released.
The investigation is ongoing.
