Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10100 North Houston Rosslyn Road about 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday (July 8).
The male victim, Jim Lopez-Orellana, 24, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer T. Johnson reported:
Mr. Lopez-Orellana was driving a red Honda Civic at a high rate of speed southbound at the above address. According to a witness, he may have been racing a silver-colored vehicle when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in the median. Lopez-Orellana was apparently not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
The investigation is continuing.
