UPDATE: Investigation into Fatal Stabbing at 2101 Hayes Road

The fatal stabbing of a woman at 2101 Hayes Road about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday (December 1) has been referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The victim, Kyiara Galdness, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female suspect, 20, was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Brown and M. Condon reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a stabbing at the above address and found Ms. Galdness, who was pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics.  A preliminary investigation indicated Galdness met a friend in the parking lot at the above address.  The two then confronted a female about her involvement with Galdness’ boyfriend.

Officers learned Galdness, armed with a knife, approached the other woman and the two got into a verbal altercation.  Galdness’ friend left the two women to retrieve her vehicle.  When she returned, Galdness was lying on the ground with at least one stab wound.  The unidentified female suspect had fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The female suspect was located and brought to the HPD Homicide Division for questioning and admitted to being involved in the stabbing.  After a review of the facts by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the case has been referred to a grand jury.
