UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 2602 Wheeler

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 2602 Wheeler about 6:50 p.m. on December 6, 2017.

The suspect, Elijah Williams (b/m, 21), is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court for his role in the killing of Christian Crear, 25.

A 2016 booking photo of Williams is attached to this news release.  He is not in custody.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. May and Officer A. Vinogradov reported:

Witnesses stated Mr. Crear was shot by two males in the parking lot of a convenience store at the above address.  Paramedics transported Crear to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects are described only as two black males in their early to mid 20s.  One was believed to be wearing a leather jacket and the other a light blue hoodie.

Further investigation led to the identification of Williams as one of the suspects and he was charged with murder.
