Ms. Hernandez's family members found her in the bathroom of her residence.  Evidence from the scene indicated a struggle had occurred and nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Hernandez was last seen on April 21 arriving at her home in a black SUV between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.  At that time, witnesses reported seeing a white 1999 Ford F-350 pickup truck with Texas license plates CYR9360 parked on the driveway on the south end of the residence.  Hernandez was seen getting her dogs back into her yard before going inside her residence.  The truck left the residence a short time after that.

The abandoned Ford F-350 pickup truck was recovered on April 24 in the 6400 block of Mesa.

Further investigation identified Ayala as the suspect in this case and he was taken into custody on Sunday (May 7) without incident.
