Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 4000 West Fuqua

A juvenile suspect faces two felony charges after he was arrested in a fatal crash at 4000 West Fuqua about 1:55 a.m. today (April 25).

The male suspect, 14, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on charges of failure to stop and render aid and racing, causing death

The identities of the male victims, 14 and 15, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant V.  Harisis and Officer S. Sartor reported:

The juvenile drivers of a Ford Explorer and a Ford Expedition were traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on West Fuqua, lost control of their respective vehicles and went off the roadway.  The Explorer struck a tree and the Expedition struck a speed limit sign.  An HPD officer in the area witnessed the vehicles racing and crashing.  The officer drove to the crash location and saw the driver of the Expedition stop and then attempt to flee in his vehicle.  The officer conducted a traffic stop on the Expedition and took the suspect into custody.  Both juveniles in the Explorer were pronounced deceased.

The investigation is continuing.
