The community is invited to join the Library as it dedicates its latest public civic art by nationally acclaimed artist, Dixie Friend Gay. Her incredible mosaic, sculpture work was selected by the community to be placed on permanent display at the neighborhood’s brand new, high-tech library. Friend Gay’s work is fueled by awareness of the natural and has public art on display throughout the country including our very own George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

In 1999, the City of Houston established an ordinance mandating that 1.75% of qualified Capital Improvement Project monies be set aside for civic art.  The program is managed by the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs.
